Clair Challenor Chadwick, MD of Cause UK, arranged a successful Media Call for the world premiere of a Brexit-inspired piano composition.
Hosted at Besbrode Pianos in Leeds, artist Ruth Spencer Jolly gave a preview to press, and took part in a Q&A on what Brexit means to the business and arts world for the Leeds region.
Chaired by the deputy business editor of the Yorkshire Post, with panel guests Natalie Sykes, the regional director of the Institute of Directors, Melvin Besbrode, director of Besbrode Pianos, and Labour Councillor Neil Walshaw, the debate was broadcast live on the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post Facebook pages.
The composition features 28 Steinway pianos, representing members of the EU.
As well as being reported by the Yorkshire Post and the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Press Association attended to photograph the preview.
The story also featured on BBC radio, Pianist magazine’s website, as well as BBC Music Magazine’s Classical-music.com alongside various event sites in the region, such as Leeds Inspired, and news sites such as Yorkshire Voice.
It was also filmed for a feature on the entertainment programme – “The Lowdown Leeds” which is broadcast on Thursday 30th March, and shown on Made in Leeds, which you can find on Freeview 7 (within the Leeds area), Sky 117 and Virgin Media 159.
The full concert is free to attend on Sunday 26th March at Besbrode Pianos in Leeds, tickets are available here.
