The UK’s leading rock and roll variety show That’ll Be The Day opens Lakeside Live – a unique series of outdoor concerts announced for this summer.
Lakeside Live is being billed as a triumphant return of live music, beginning on Thursday 19 August 2021. Set in the beautiful outdoor amphitheatre in Doncaster, That’ll Be The Day will open the series of live shows set over four consecutive days.
That’ll Be the Day
Audiences are guaranteed a top night of entertainment with the fully staged production from the ever-popular and unashamedly nostalgic variety show. That’ll Be The Day features favourite rock and pop hits, spanning the start of Rock ‘n’ Roll in the ‘50s, the fab ‘60s, glam ‘70s and iconic ‘80s.
That’ll Be The Day celebrates its milestone 35th anniversary in 2021. From its humble beginnings, the show has grown into a “must see” attraction. Reviews have hailed their performances as “relentlessly entertaining”.
Director Trevor Payne said: “We are raring to go for Lakeside Live. It’s been a long year of anxiety for so many, so it will be truly joyous to play live again. I think we all desperately need to let our hair down, laugh, dance, and enjoy some throwback nostalgia. We can’t wait to entertain audiences.”
Guests are invited to bring their own refreshments, chairs and blankets to the outdoor amphitheatre, next door to the Keepmoat Stadium, to enjoy a magical evening under the stars. Bar and catering facilities will also be onsite to enjoy before the show and during the interval.
As an outdoor event there will be plenty of space for the audience to enjoy the show. The event is designed to be a Covid-19 safe environment with reduced capacities, additional toilets, and sanitising facilities.
Profits from the event are helping to support Doncaster Rovers Football Club, after what has been a difficult year financially for football clubs.
Lakeside Live continues on Friday 20 August with Queen Symphonic and the Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra. Saturday 21 August sees The Great Yorkshire Proms hosted by Aled Jones, featuring Sophie Evans, Peyee Chen and Tenors Unlimited, and on Sunday 22 August, it’s An Evening at the Musicals with the Barricade Boys, Kerry Ellis, Ben Forster and Trevor Dion Nicholas accompanied by the West End Live Band.
Tickets are expected to go fast, so book early to avoid disappointment. Tickets go on sale Friday 23 April at 9am, with the first 100 tickets available at £35+ fees. (Standard ticket £37.50+ fees).
