The Action Man of TV presents Expedition: Adventures into Undiscovered Worlds, inspired by his recent bestselling book and TV series.

Steve promises to inject Leeds audiences with the adrenalin of his most ambitious expeditions to date. The multi-media talk encompasses astonishing tales from his year of adventure, from taking light into forgotten caves, making first ascents of Arctic peaks, and first descents of Himalayan rivers.

He tells of narrow escapes, scrapes and close calls with near death – Steve hit the headlines for almost drowning when his kayak flipped in icy waters – as well as lessons learned from his extraordinary year.

Steve said: “Filming Expedition was a year of doing ten world firsts. It’s been a year living in the most remote, most little known, most challenging, and most exciting environments on earth.”

Steve is famed for his children’s show Deadly 60 or swimming with sharks on Blue Planet Live, and has been leading expeditions to unknown parts of the world for nearly 20 years, but his latest challenge was his most jaw-dropping.

What’s more, the TV production company behind Expedition became the first in the UK to completely offset all its carbon emissions through forest purchase in Borneo.

Suitable for audiences of all ages from 8 to 80, Steve hopes his talk will inspire a spirit of adventure and wonder.

Steve said: “Everyone will take something different from it. There’s the opportunity for people to ask me questions. I hope they take away with them the sense that the world has not been completely explored and not completely despoiled and there are fabulous wild corners of it out there to explore for the first time.”

The event includes an extended Q&A session and book signing.

Steve Backshall Expedition, presented by Cause UK, is on Sunday 1 November at the Victoria Hall, Leeds Town Hall, 3pm. Box Office: 0113 376 0318 or book online: https://www.leedstownhall.co.uk/whats-on/talk/steve-backshall-expedition/5195
