Love is in the air at the Askern Community Library this Valentine’s Day.  Re-Read, the UK’s first ever book bank, is giving away free copies of Mills and Boons to every adult who visits the library this Saturday.

Re-Read is encouraging people in low income areas to read more.

Jim McLaughlin from Re-Read said, “Forget 50 shades of Grey, Mills and Boons are the world’s largest publisher of romance fiction.  The great thing about Mills and Boons is that they are easy to read and a great introduction to ignite a passion for reading.”

The Doncaster-based organisation recycles and redistributes books that otherwise would have been pulped or sent to Landfill.

Re-Read sells books online to UK and international markets which allows it to operate its community charity initiatives. Since 2012 the social enterprise has given away 53,000 books to children in low income families and operates schemes to ensure that all members of the community have access to free books.

Askern Community Library on Station Road in Askern is open 10am-1.00pm on Saturday 14th February, supported by the Council, the library is managed by a dedicated army of volunteers.
