Donations to The Civic Doubled on 22 June 2017

The Civic is asking supporters to take advantage of a one-off initiative from Localgiving. From 10am till midnight, people will be able to see one off donations of up to £25 doubled, to celebrate Fundraising Day on 22 June – part of Small Charity Week 2017.

Helen Ball, CEO of The Civic, said: “It’s a brilliant one day only opportunity to double the impact of your donation and so easy to do.”

Supporters can donate by going to donate page on The Civic, Barnsley website or visiting https://localgiving.org/charity/thecivicbarnsley/

The Civic is an independent arts charity that has launched an ambitious £5m fundraising campaign to regenerate the building to its full glory.

The Civic, which represents the heart of Barnsley, has been part of the town since 1877. While, part of The Civic building has benefited from modernisation, it plans to expand and develop the dilapidated front doors on Eldon Street and open up and utilise the unfinished floors at the centre of the listed building.

Helen added: “Barnsley has come far, with regeneration in our markets, railway station and shopping centre. We’re asking people to help us make sure The Civic doesn’t get left behind. We believe the town deserves the very best cultural offer, and hope people get behind this exciting future. Please donate on 22 June to breathe new life into this iconic building.”

Patron Sir Michael Parkinson has backed the campaign. He said:

“The arts are an integral part of what it means to be human.  They contribute to our spirit and enrich our lives. Barnsley can be proud of the contribution it has made to the world of literature, theatre, radio, television, music and sport.  That is why this campaign is important and why I am proud to be a Patron of The Civic.  Please support us.”
