The world class, award winning Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival, now in its 15th year, celebrates the very best in crime fiction at the magnificent Old Swan Hotel each July. The Festival is a firm date in the literary calendar and has achieved international acclaim for the programming, organisation and atmosphere.

Cited as one of the UKÕs top literary festivals in the Guardian and Elle magazine, the 2016 Festival reached 8.2 million Twitter users, with 35.9 million impressions during the week of July. The event, known as the friendliest and most inclusive on the circuit, is famed for its no barriers approach, as fans, fledgling writers and established superstar authors mingle in the hotel bar, bookshop and papakata tents in the hotel grounds.
