Cause UK began a very frosty February in 2021 by promoting a wild swimming fundraising campaign for the Archbishop of York Youth Trust.
The chilly challenge took place in the rivers and lakes of Yorkshire on behalf of Bear Grylls’ sister, Lara Fawcett. Five experienced cold-water swimmers took part to raise in excess of £20,000 for the charity. Lara swam for five-minutes, three times per week in icy ponds and lakes. During one swim, she roused the curiosity of some inquisitive Alpacas!
We secured broadcast coverage for the campaign on BBC Look North, Sky News, Channel 5 News, the Yorkshire Post, BBC Radio York and BBC Radio 2. Photos also featured in the Telegraph and the Independent, via the Press Association. We also created a film for YouTube courtesy of Gary Lawson Media.
An army of supporters on social media showed their support by taking one-minute ice baths, and creating snow angels, to raise funds and awareness for the #FrostyFeb campaign.
Clair, Managing Director of Cause UK, even took a dip in the River Nidd in Knaresborough!
The Archbishop of York Youth Trust is passionate about developing opportunities for young people to grow in leadership, faith and character, in partnership with schools, churches and communities.
Through the Young Leaders Award, the Youth Trust has empowered over 100,000 young people from over 850 schools to learn and practice key leadership skills and character virtues and to transform their communities through social action.
We believe support for the Youth Trust is more important than ever as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
All money raised will go towards empowering young people to support and rebuild their communities post COVID-19. Young leaders are vital for our future. We hope you can join us in showing you support by donating here.
