Cause UK raised the profile of the seventh Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival, which took place October 19-22, for our client, Harrogate International Festivals.

Ticket sales were up by 20% on last year’s Festival as a stellar line-up of names from the world of politics, stage and screen descended on the Crown Hotel.

Audiences welcomed broadcasting royalty, Baroness Joan Bakewell, Dame Jenni Murray and Peter Snow, as well as bestselling authors Victoria Hislop, Sophie Kinsella and Gail Honeyman.

Cause UK set up a feature in the Sunday Times with Festival author, Amanda Owen – the glamorous Yorkshire Shepherdess. Other media coverage included Ann Widdecombe picking her Six Best Books in the Daily Express, Victoria Hislop in the same paper’s Five Things slot, event picks in the i newspaper and Daily Mirror, an interview with Peter Snow in History of War magazine, and Ann at Cause UK did a Q&A with Dame Jenni Murray on Psychologies online.

Ann put her feature writing skills into action, interviewing Dame Jenni Murray for the York Press, Yorkshire Living and Yorkshire Life magazine, and Denise Welch for the Northern Echo and Yorkshire Post.

This year, we helped secure a media partnership with BBC Radio York, who broadcast live from the event, interviewing Denise Welch, Victoria Hislop, Cathy Rentzenbrink and Chris Bonington.

The event was featured heavily in the pages of the Yorkshire Post, partners of the literary lunch, who interviewed Chris Bonington and Martin Sixsmith, as well as the local paper, the Harrogate Advertiser, who interviewed Baroness Joan Bakewell.

We were delighted to meet once more with Psychologies magazine editor, Suzy Greaves, who did a Facebook Live film on the popular Psychologies page with authors Jem Lester and Keith Stuart.
