Case Study

Key Fund is Britain’s biggest regional Community Development Finance Institution. Cause UK has worked with Key Fund since 2012, tasked with raising their profile and influence.

As well as supporting one-off campaigns, such as the Social Incubator Fund in partnership with the Cabinet Office, Cause UK also acts as media advisor to the Key Fund and write their annual social impact report.

Since working with Key Fund, Cause UK has helped quadruple traffic to its website and gave the organisation a local and national voice. We’ve worked in partnership to strengthen its brand, using designers Ink and Water, creating bespoke films, photography, website and newsletter copy and marketing collateral.

Cause UK write their award entries; Key Fund has been finalists for major awards including Charity Times, Social Enterprise UK, the Citi Awards; Key Fund won the 2014 RBS/Cabinet Office Award 2014 and have been shortlisted between 2015-2018..

Cause UK has secured consistent media coverage over the years, with regular coverage in publications such the Guardian Online, Telegraph and Argus, BusinessDesk, and Sheffield Telegraph. Other features include Yorkshire Post, Liverpool Echo, Business Quarterly Magazine, as well as thought leaders in the Yorkshire Post.

We actively position Key Fund as thought leaders and instigated audience research into the misconceptions around Social Enterprise, which featured on the Guardian SE Network and triggered debate within the Social Enterprise sector. We also placed thought leadership pieces for The Guardian’s Voluntary Network and Social Enterprise Hub as well as secured coverage in the Guardian’s main paper.

National Social Enterprise Day saw Key Fund taking part in a Live Blog for the Guardian Social Enterprise Network. Cause UK also promotes its many client success stories, such as Birdcage featured in the Craven Herald. Other case studies include the ground-breaking Settle Hydro project in Yorkshire Life magazine, and Refurnish in the Lancashire Telegraph.
